Wildlife Tours

Australian Wildlife Tours advises on places to visit and organises flight-seeing ecotours by light aircraft. This service is based on 40 years experience of Dr George Wilson flying through the outback working as a zoologist, veterinarian, research scientist, resource conservationist and commercial survey pilot.

AWT was established in 1984 when Dr George Wilson began research and development projects with the National Parks & Wildlife Services  He was conducting wildlife aerial surveys of a highly specialised nature and visiting Aboriginal communities.

In 2000 AWT won a Tourism Council of Australia Award for Excellence as a tour operator. While not now conducting commercial tours itself today AWT, we atill regularly fly the outback and are available to provide professional advice and to accompany tours in our own aircraft.

When the inland waterways are in flood following heavy rains, as they were in 2010 and 2011, birdlife int the outback and the central Australia abound. Expeditions are being taken by light aircraft to Lake Eyre, Cooper Creek, Innamincka and the Paroo River to see the wetlands, waterbirds and the explosion in life blooming in the desert.
