Expeditions and tour options are based on thirty years experience of Dr George Wilson working in the outback as a zoologist, veterinarian, research scientist, resource conservationist and pilot. He is a graduate of Universities of Sydney and Aberdeen.

In 1984 he established Australian Wildlife Tours, when he was engaged in research and development projects with the National Parks & Wildlife Services conducting wildlife surveys of a highly specialised nature and visiting Aboriginal communities. Through AWT, Dr George Wilson is able to share the wealth of his knowledge with travelers who wish to experience the unique natural wonders and the cultural heritage that Australia has to offer.

In 2000 AWT won an award for excellence as a tour operator.

Today the company is not taking fee paying tourists due to instability in the insurance market and complexity of licensing procedures across State borders in Australia. We work with other our operators and remain ready to discuss your needs and provide advice. Buttons above contain options.

Expeditioners and volunteers

Today AWS provide opportunities for volunteers and associations to accompany field work and support research and conservation projects. They can

  • learn about wildlife conservation and rural land use,
  • experience National Parks and contribute to conservation,
  • visit outback homesteads and remote towns, taste the best food and wines,
  • share Aboriginal culture and art

Volunteers join a conservation project and contribute to costs.

Testimonials from some of AWT's customers have been included on a testimonials page.
